Iiiiiiiiiitttttttt’s Coventry!
By: Dan Clough | December 3rd, 2007
The FA Cup third round will see us host Coventry City.
The Championship side who spent so long in the top flight before falling from grace may well fancy their chances in this tie.
I was personally hoping for an even lower side as Coventry could be a potential banana skin. However if we keep our concentration this is an easy win for us.
The draw, as usual gave some clubs a dream tie and some one they won’t savour quite so much. When I look through it I can only expect disappointment from some of the lower league clubs!
Aston Villa v Man Utd again! No Fergie v Fergie
Spurs v Reading, Sunderland v Wigan and West Ham v Man City! Four all-Premiership ties. With the amount of teams in this round I find it highly ironic that eight teams from the Premiership draw each other!
Arsenal v Burnley. A great draw for the Dingles and a nice trip out for them if they can get past the nurses. Luton or Notts Forest v Liverpool, another good tie for the winners.
Wolves v Cambridge, Horsham or Swansea v Havant & Waterlooville, Oxford or Southend v Dagenham & Redbridge and Swindon v Burton Albion or Barnet.
One non-league club with a big draw in Cambridge’s trip to Wolverhampton but still, they would have preferred a Premiership side. The other non-league teams will all be disappointed with the outcome of the draw. Especially Havant & Waterlooville who are only nine years old and are unlikely to reach this far again for a very long time!
Oh, and I almost forgot, the Rovers v Coventry game will see a return to Ewood Park for Tim Flowers who is now Iain Dowie’s Assistant Manager and one of the best goalkeeping coaches ever! I’m sure he’ll get a rousing reception!
