Rovers 4 - 2 Reading

Sorry I haven’t updated for a couple of days. Had a laptop disaster and have been unable to turn the bluddy thing on. Ok now though… Thank God!

Reading’s leaky defence had to come to terms with conceding four more as Rovers battered the Royals at Fortress Ewood.

Only two weeks ago they let in seven against Pompey and they were on the receiving end of another tubbing as Rovers found some superb form.

We were 3-0 up in the first half after goals from Benni, Santa and a sublime 35-yarder from Tugay. Rovers continued to dominate in the second but couldn’t score. Kevin Doyle got one back for Reading in the 80th minute before a McCarthy pen made it 4-1. Doyle added another in the last minute to put a bit of a dampner on things but it was still an impressive win.

One thing I do have to raise after this is our inability to keep clean sheets. Prior to this we won 2-1 at Sunderland, allowing the Mackems to get on back late on and put us under pressure. The match before that was exactly the same at home to Birmingham! It would be nice to see us batter someone 4-0 and really boost our goal difference.

Anyway, having had my whinge let’s look at the positives:

a) We are sixth in the league table. We are above Chelsea, Newcastle, Villa, Everton and of course Bolton Wanderers!

b) We have 18 points. Double the number of games we have played. This leaves us just seven points behind Arsenal at the top!

c) Three wins in a row! First time since New Year!

d) Benni scored two. He’s back in form. Santa was able to play and together they scored three goals! What a partnership this could turn out to be… Remember the SAS…?

e) We still have a game in hand on many clubs, including Portsmouth, Man Utd and Man City who are all above us in the table.

Next game, Spurs away. Let’s get Jol sacked!!
