United 2 - 0 Rovers

By: Dan Clough | November 11th, 2007

Ahh so the run is over.

Rovers were beaten by the best team in England in the toughest stadium to play in.

Samba hit the bar from 30 yards and Bentley and Santa Cruz had chances but a lapse in concentration at a corner gave United the lead, Ronaldo heading it past Friedel. Then, almost instantly, we gave them the ball and Ronaldo scored again on the counter attack.

Yet again in a match at Old Trafford there was controversy for Rovers. David Dunn sent off fo two yellow cards, ironically they were the only two fouls he comitted all game and it is questionable whether they merited bookings. Yes, they were fouls, but they were harsh cards.

This left Rovers with absolutely no chance of getting back into the game as, with an extra man on the field, United dominated.

Still, United are only the second team to beat us this season and we need to forget about this one and move on at Fulham in two weeks time.

That first booking was a load of bollox. Tevez was fouled but he struggled through it, then just fell down. Weak. The second foul was a bookable offense. The referee gave himself no other option.
