Boro v Rovers
By: Dan Clough | August 10th, 2007
It’s finally here. After two and a half months of waiting patiently the joyous day is almost upon us. Of course I speak of the start of the football season!
Rovers kick-off the 2007/08 season with, what promises to be, an action-packed match against Middlesbrough. A game which often provides many interesting talking points and entertaining incidents.
Oh no, I’m confusing myself. Boro away is always a shit match! For some reason it is just one of those games that often turns into a drab affair.
I do believe that we have an extremely strong squad this season, the best we’ve had for some years, and fully expect us to make things extremely difficult for Boro who will be desperate for the win after we doubled them last season!
The only absentees from Sparky’s squad are Bruno Berner (tragic), Sergio Peter and Steven Reid (surprised?!) who, despite recovering from his injury troubles of last season has picked up a minor hamstring strain.
With Savage and Nelsen back, as well as Oijer we should be solid as a rock. And with the five strikers battling out for a game (I won’t include Paul Gallagher, let’s face it he’s gonna struggle this year) we should be scoring plenty of goals.
Middlesbrough are a handy side but not too good. Yakubu is a threat, but they’ve lost Viduka. Apart from his goal threat I can’t see any real problems for us tomorrow.
My prediction
Boro 1 - 2 Rovers
