Pompey v Rovers
By: Dan Clough | October 31st, 2007
Rovers travel to Portsmouth tonight to avenge the only league defeat this season by dumping Pompey out of the Beer Cup.
After being knocked of the UEFA Rovers have gone from strength to strength in domestic competition and we seem as likely as ever to pick up some silverware this year, and shake of the semi-final hoo doo that has haunted us for the last few years!
Obviously, we haven’t got the easiest game. Pompey another of the teams in the mini-league we have joined just behind the ‘Big Four’, are just as capable as us to get some silverware this season.
However, six wins in a row. Surely we have what it takes to win at Fratton Park and continue our run. Rovers fans aren’t stupid. We know we aren’t going to win the league, Despite the fact that this is the best start to a league season since we won the title! So a domestic cup win would be exactly what the fans want, and the perfect reward for Hughes who has assembled an excellent team, definitely one that would rival the Championship winning side in terms of quality.
My prediction
2-0 Rovers!

Dan, is it just me or do I see Rovers being constantly over looked, at the start of the season teams like Man City and Pompey are always being talked about and gloated upon as having such a great start to the season but no one wants to give credit to Blackburn? I dont understand, Rovers have been very consistent this season and look as though they aren’t going to be backing down any time soon I have a gut feeling that Rovers are going to have a great season this year and I also predict they will get close or bring home some silverware!
FRIEDAL FOR LIFE!

You’re right mate, although people are starting to sit up and take notice now. It only took 7 wins in a row…
