Everton 1 – 1 Rovers
By: Dan Clough | August 26th, 2007
Rovers unbeaten start to the season continued but we can feel slightly aggrieved at not coming away from Goodison with a win.
We played well and looked solid defensively until one lapse cost us two points as James McFadden’s first goal of the season for the Toffees sealed a draw and rescued a point for the home side.
Rovers took the lead after quarter of an hour when Pedersen’s acrobatic over-head kick came back off the bar and Santa Cruz tucked it in from close range.
It would have been two later in the first half had it not been for Leighton Baines header off the line denying Chris Samba his first goal of the season, having beaten keeper Tim Howard.
It seemed that the goal had given Rovers the points and kept our 100% record on the road but it wasn’t to be.
To be honest, I would have taken a point before the game. Everton away is a tough one and a draw is a decent result.
On top of this, I would have definitely taken five points from the first three games before the season started!
At least after a solid performance confidence should be high going into the return leg of the MyPa game on Thursday.
