Rovers 1 - 0 Man City - 14 games unbeaten!
By: Dan Clough | September 2nd, 2007
Rovers unbeaten run continued in a dominant display at Ewood.
It was a bit of a bad tempered affair with each side finishing a man down but Rovers came out on top in a big F OFF to Sven who famously turned us down in 1997.
For those with shorter memories it was Rovers who ’signed’ Eriksson as manager before he made a massive u-turn and went to Lazio instead.
Rovers were well on top throughout, hitting the post twice, missing several good chances and keeper Kasper Schmeichel was once again on form.
In the end it was only a solitary goal from Benni McCarthy that ensured the points for us, as well as sustaining our now impressive unbeaten run!
The goal came in the 13th minute after Schmeichel saved Santa Cruz’s effort only for Benni to tap-in from close range.
There was a moment of terror for Rovers as Savage went off injured, however it has since been reported that he is indeed ok.
Tugay, who came on as Sav’s replacement was sent off in the 54th minute for a second booking, both of which were a tad petty.
In the end another good day for Rovers who can go into the Chelsea game in a fortnight full of confidence.
