Rovers 4 - 0 FK Vetra (6-0 aggregate)
By: Dan Clough | July 28th, 2007
I’ll be honest with you; I didn’t see this match as I have been in Nottingham at the cricket! Therefore this report is going to be a summary of what I’ve seen and read about the match.
Rovers are through to the UEFA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round after crushing Lithuanians Vilnius Vetra 6-0 on aggregate.
Two goals from Ped and one each for Benni and Roberts secured a four-goal victory at Ewood.
Rovers dominated the match from start to finish with Vetra barely managing a decent shooting opportunity but it took 25 minutes for us to open the scoring. Bentley’s cross headed in by MGP for a simple opener.
After 40 minutes Vetra shot themselves in the foot when Miloselski lamped Stephen Warnock, earning himself a second booking and they were down to ten men.
Rovers made it two just after the break when Pedersen’s low cross from the byline was knocked in from close range by Roberts.
The third goal came just five minutes later when Bentley’s cross was volleyed in by McCarthy’s aerobatic over-head kick. Almost immedieately we were 4-0 up when Pedersen’s long-range free kick somehow missed everyone and ended up in the back of the net.

It was a decent game, Rovers were in control for all of it really. I think Vetra got through our defence once in the first half but put the ball wide. Good goals from MGP and Benni…Roberts goal just hit him and went it! But everyone played pretty well, so looking good!
