Bentley Watch - The return of the boo boys

By: Dan Clough | September 10th, 2007

391239_mediumsquare.jpgDavid Bentley finally made his long awaited England debut at the weekend.

Unfortunately for him it only lasted about 7 minutes after Shaun Wright-Phillips played a blinder and got man of the match!

Bents was delighted to get a game as England battered Israel at Wembley but was greeted to a barrage of boos from England’s typically unforgiving fans.

As Bentley’s dreams came true, the fans couldn’t resist jeering him for dropping out of the under 21s in the Summer. Despite the fact he has already paid the price for that decision by not being included in the last match against Germany.

Hopefully the fan’s anger has now been shown and they will allow Bentley to get on with playing football if he gets a game against Russia, although after SWP’s performance against Israel he definitely won’t be starting!
