If I was the boss
By: Dan Clough | December 18th, 2007
Right, I’ve just taken over as manager of Rovers (Hughesy has gone to United). Here’s what I do…
1. Sell Benni McCarthy.
Benni was a fantastic signing and was an immense player for us last season. He nearly got a dream move to Chelsea in the summer but it didn’t happen. Since then he’s not looked interested for us! His performance against Wigan was dire, he did nothing. And when he was presented with the chance to bang in a penalty the way he hit it just demonstrated how much desire and commitment he has to us at the moment. We have other good strikers and I’ll get between 3 and 5 million for him so it’s a good deal.
2. Sell Aaron Mokoena
Mokoena is a decent defensive midfielder. Emphasis on decent. He’s requested a transfer because he doesn’t get enough games. I’ll let him go to Sunderland or Fulham for about 2 million.
3. Get Jason Roberts happy again
Roberts is still a quality player, I rate him very highly. With McCarthy gone it’s time to get Roberts back in the side and keep him happy. I don’t like all this talk of him leaving.
4. Give MGP an ultimatum
If his performances don’t improve I’m selling him in January. He’s been very mediocre at times this season and we all know he can play much better. If he doesn’t show us what he’s capable of I’m flogging him, and I know that I can get decent money for him because he’s still a highly rated player.
So there you have it. I have spoken. I wonder if Mark Hughes reads this… Feel free to post a comment with any changes you’d make, or if you think I’m talking complete bollocks…

I feel as if my life has more meaning after reading the enthralling commentary of Clock End Gooner. This epiphany will no doubt take my life to new heights. I await the next batch of writings from Clock End Gooner that will no doubt help me become a better husband, employee and servant of God (not to mention the help he will provide with my personnel finances by getting me out of the adjustable interest rate that I currently have on my home loan). Thank you Gooner! You have made my life worth living!
PS- Gooner, do you have any suggestions on how we can slow down global warming? I’m sure you do…
