International round-up: Bentley snubbed again

By: Dan Clough | October 15th, 2007

euro2008_uv.jpgDespite getting man of the match in our last game against Birmingham, and scoring a superb goal, Steve McLaren thought better of giving him another chance in the England game against Estonia.

Fair enough, if we are 1-0 up, or drawing, or it’s just a tight game in general. But at 3-0 I would have thought he’d let him have a chance to shine. But no, that’s not how England works these days. Instead he put fat Frank Lampard on. Call my a cynic but if Lampard didn’t play for Chelsea, in the form he’s been in, he would not play for England so much. Imagine him pulling on a Fulham shirt every week. It wouldn’t happen.

Anyway, that’s enough of that… Other Rovers players on international duty this week were:

Andre Oijer who played 84 minutes of a defeat top Romania. That’s Holland’s first ever defeat to Romania!

Khizanishvilli played for Georgia in their defeat to Italy.

Keeper Gunnar Nielsen kept a clean sheet for the Faroe Islands under 21’s against Azerbaijan.
