15th Place, So Long Tugay. Vote for your POY
By: Jimmy | May 25th, 2009
Well, Tugay’s gone. Carlos gone. Ooijer: Gone. And Now, Mokoena; Gone. (clicky click click) Not too sure I’m that upset about the last one.
Let the silly season begin. For me, still playing in the top flight after the first half of the year we had is more then okay with me. We’ll strive to improve again next year.
In the comments section below, vote on your player of the year. Maybe I’ll add a poll, but I wouldn’t want to leave any one out. I’ll be around and about with any and all updates coming out of the Rovers camp. As always, UP THE ROVERS!

For me personally, it has to be Nelsen. Even when things were bad, he was the lone rock in the back. Samba had an indifferent year when in defense, and as much of a plus Givet was, he only played half a season. Benni’s and Robert’s late season renaissances played a role, but over the full course of the season, I’ll stick with Nelsen.

Not the biggest fan of Nelson, but can’t really argue with that.

Jimmy – I’m an American who’s inexplicably become a Rovers fan…I plan to go to England this fall/winter to see a game at Ewood – anything I should know before I get there? I presume (I’m too lazy to research this), that you’re from England…
if not, you can ignore this…

Hah, Wish I could help you out. I too am an American Rovers fan. My best piece of advice is hit up some rovers forums. Theres the one on the offish site and there’s also brfcs.co.uk see if other people have had the same question and if you can’t find the topic ask yourself. I’m sure there will be more than enough people willing to help. I think I’m going to try and save up enough to see the game at Ewood v the Dingles. But we’ll have to see how the $$ situation is when the schedule comes out.

yeah, it was late enough that I ignored the American flag next to your post. Pathetic effort on my part…
Anyways, everything I’ve seen recommends getting a hold of the club itself (for the smaller ones – the Big 4 probably don’t care), as they will make a special effort for out-of-country fans planning to make it to the home park. Hopefully that will be the case for me when I get this trip all figured out…
Thanks

If I can jump in, you’ll enjoy your trip and find the club very accommodating. While I don’t know when you’re traveling, try to get to the Derby versus Burnley. A great local match that will be quite spirited.
If you need any help, just ask and I will do my best.

j: thanks for your offer! I still don’t know when I’m going, as an Arsenal-fan friend of mine and I will make the trip on the agreement that we both “outwardly” root for each other’s team at each other’s stadium (ie, we won’t see BRFC-Arse). So the schedule will become a driving factor, as we’re looking at a Sat-Sun or Wed-weekend setup that makes sense. If it was just me, I’d choose the Burnley game, but that would be lucky circumstance were it to occur in the schedule…regardless, any suggestions you can give are appreciated!! Thanks! jjf3
