Hi there, lets have a talk.

Corner FlagNow, this isn’t directed at you, the fellow fans/readers or myself or even the club necessarily. However, over the last week I have found myself confused as to why I am happy when we draw.

Why is it that when Keith Andrews struck in the dying minutes of the game(with a great shot I might add) I felt as if we had clinched all three points. We were unfairly at 10 men the majority of the match. Maybe that’s why scraping a point felt so good.

But then there is the AV game. Really good stuff. Except for the score line. And us not getting any points. But the football was so good for the most part until we got desperate. And it was really really good. But we lost. So why the optimism? Is anybody else relating? Or is this just me?

And the Boro game oh the Boro game. How we should have won as well. But Benni Mac, equalizing header in the dying seconds of added time. Immediate elation. Confusion later.

As we slip to 13th in the table, looking broadly it’s easy to begin to question Ince and Co. But watching the games, looking at the stats and understanding that you’ll get stuck with the crazy new ref out to prove a point and maybe it’s not so bad. Or maybe it is. You tell me.

We’ve been lucky to escape with points in the Boro game. But we could have gotten all 3 vs WBA, if the refs didn’t blow it.

You are quite right in the article, and I have said it before: the fact is we are playing alot better, flowing football without the results. Im not comparing us in any way to Arsenal, but right now they arent picking up points and it seems we may need to go back to the odd scrap in order to collect 3 points. Going back to basics starts with the formation and the personel you play obviously. Warnock at left back, Villaneuva in a position not to be out muscled (out wide), and 2 strikers one ready to run and hassle all game.
I do believe oijer has to go and replace a centre half, i would stick with danny williams at right back for now. I think we will be a mid table finish while playing better football, but the danger is being on the back of a bad run over christmas or towards the latter part of the season. W eneed to be ready to battle the likes of stoke and bolton and be ready to play football at the right time.
Ince will get it right but should remember: harwork beats talent when talent refuses to work hard!
