Hello and welcome back to, what should be stable service one more, The Blackburn Offside. After my month long hell (aka internship) I am back with a vengeance, and now Podcast equipped.

Over the next few days, I’ll be posting write ups or podcast episodes of a review of the month I missed. With this new feature, I to invite anyone and everyone to be as involved as possible. If you have a question a comment or anything at all, email it to me and we’ll get it talked about on any future episode. Feeling bold? Even if you just have a simple built in mic or a whole studio, record a comment or question and I’ll throw it in the episode myself.

As always, discussion starts in the comments where I hope to see some of the posters return. Sorry again for the month long hiatus, but we’re back baby.

First off, Thanks to everyone who has voted so far in the poll. I know I was gone for a week or two and to see so many people back reading the blog brings a tear to my eye. Just kidding (but not really…)

Some interesting facts/ideas/musings etc… that have spawn from the poll results and comments in the last post:

Tugay is the out and out favorite with 39% of the votes in the “Do you like the new white kit” poll. I don’t know what that says about the proposed shirt….or about my Turkish delight.

And having done the research I have to admit, sadly, that it kind of does.

James from the U.S. is clearly not a fan of Umbro…..at all.

Regular contributor BMatthews is a giant 08 away kit fanboy, shamelessly at that. And hopes they even keep it next year.

I myself was never to fond of this year away kit, and I’m not quite sure what to make of that New away kit there, if it does turn out tomorrow to be accurate. I think it’s because I loved the red and black halved kit from 2 season ago.

EDIT: I was going to link to the scum’s offside page. but only because they never used to have one. now, they have one now. So I’d like to congratulate them on getting their first house with internet access. And Congrats to The Offside, who’s influence is so strong they got the only online member of the scum’s fan base to write for them.

Rovers 2-2 Bolton, Shock Derbs loan???

No highlights yet but the match in a second.
This story here (click) is getting heavy buzz and would be a big deal around the Rovers world if it went through. The story? Matty Derbs on a half season long loan to Olympiakos in Greece. A small write up made an appearance on the Rovers site. The positives and negatives, and please comment to add either/or if I missed some, which I know I will:

Good: He gets experience playing for a pretty established club. Also, it’s off the wages for half a year, and any money saved is good. Also, a club in Europe taking talent from Rovers helps make a better name for us, especially if he does well.

Bad: He’s a huge sub for us. I still don’t think he’s a starter but he seems to always put one away in the clutch, and he gives us decent depth.

Let me know what you think. I’m not too sure.

Notlob tomorrow and a little apology

First the little apology, then onto the Notlob.
A small “I’m sorry” to readers of the Rovers Offside for lack of updates. My first week back at school just ended and I am re acclimating to the Uni life again. Normal service will resume asap. Moving on…

Side note: As you saw we draw Sunderland this weekend, so that means we get to play them AGAINNNN. FUNNN. not. Tedious and annoying. Yes.

Match tomorrow. Bolton sit only two points above us and a full three points tomorrow would 100% percent turn the season around. Grella, Dunn, Derbs, Roberts, and Ooijer are all likely to be fit as well, which is a huge boost to the squad which was looking borderline depleted. BFS playing his old club will be a good tie for him to stamp his name on his Rovers career start and could continue the climb back up the ladder. Hopefully will get to see the match, if I do, will be live blogging. If not, highlights as soon as I can get em. This one is huge. UP THE ROVERS!

The Silly Season Starts

Some headlines or you to chew on about some recent going ons at Rovers. Santa is still with us for the time being while we have had a few outings. And a big yay for Sunderland who knocked Notlob from the cup today.

Rovers trial for Ghana Starlet-SkySports

Santa Cruz expecting bid by City??(Guardian)……but then is happy at Rovers?(SkySports)

Nolan moves to Preston permanently for a “6 figure deal”, Gallagher to stay with Plymouth, Sergio Peter leaves for Sparta Prague for undisclosed fee, and last but not least Ooijer to AZ Alkmaar??

So lots of outs and not a whole lot of ins, but Big Sam has said that he hopes to bring in his new signings as early as possible.

A Blyth preview tomorrow and hopefully some good transfer news soon. I would say lets al laugh at Bolton, but they say pride comes before the fall, so lets save it. Up the ROVERS!

Grella in, Al-Habsi not, More to come

This evening BRFC have confirmed the signing of 29 year old midfielder Vince Grella from Torino on a four-year deal. This newest signing is just one in a list of signings Ince has been rimoured to want to pull off before the deadline day. Going to be honest here, don’t know a thing about the guy. Just know he is a CM with holding capabilities. Anythings better than the Axe right? Right.

In other news, Notlob has shut down our pursuit of Ali Al-Habsi. He was supposed to be brought in as a backup to Robbo, one with decent Prem experience. I can’t really disagree either, it would have been a shroud move. Oh well, not too heartbroken about the loss.

Some other rumors still yet to be followed through on: Andrews from MK Dons. I don’t wanna talk about that one, it makes my stomach hurt. Jermaine Pennant from L’Pool I’d like him to add some pace down the wing, somehting different. Not a replacement for Bents but could make it work. Emo can’t keep playing RM though, he’s not good enough there and a much better RB. Also Stephen Ireland from the blue team in Manchester rumored t be a target for Ince. Lots of stuff could still happen, we’ll keep you posted with all the latest.
