Benni drew a penalty and scored from the spot and Roberts bagged two as Big Sam and the Rovers crushed Newcastle 3-nil yesterday at Ewood Park. Read more on the game after the jump.

An abysmal first half of football for both sides, which produced the only highlight of a Keith Andrews clearance off of the line, means I won’t even talk about that half. Rovers came out of the locker room and started right away though in the second half. Subs Grella and Dunn helped solidify a shakey looking Rovers XI and Grealla complemented Andrews well as he was able to go have a run about and fund himself a little.
Side note: I think despite being a bit behind the curve still, Andrews’ fitness and his growth in every match he features in is a great thing for Rovers.

Benni Mac forced a great save from Given on his free kick but drew a controversial penalty call to make good on his hunt for a goal. It looked a penalty in real time, but the replay angles have got me second guessing myself. I’ll go with my gut and say it was warranted. Jason Roberts’ first goal for the Rovers second showed how to utilize Paul Robinson’s long boots forward and his second goal was nothing less then Rovers deserved after that magnificent build up. Dunn (I believe) to Andrews to Pederson(who had a cracker of a game) who crossed it perfectly to Roberts for the tap in. Roberts taught me this today:
Roberts strength and ball control is stills second to none.
and
He’s a great scorer when he is pressured/rushed and has to shoot on his first touch.

All in all, fantastic with Nicky Butt deservedly getting shown the rad for two rought challenges and Joey Barton fighting team mates. Take a deep breath. You smell that? That’s the smell of things looking up for Rovers.

A few new faces perhaps soon, I’ll keep you up to date with the latest. Highlights below:
Three wins in seven days has certainly left a nice after taste and I can only hope this ride up here lasts for a while. An optimistic approach I know, especially with the ManUre game up this weekend. However, Ince did graduate from Fergie’s school so maybe the pupil will surpass the master. Now, onto some stories I’ve found that you might be interested in perusing.

Ince delighted for Jason Brown — TEAMtalk

It is even better after you have beaten Everton a few days prior in the League Cup. Beating two those two, two teams that I feel are definitely a pair of our boogey sides, gives a huge morale boost going into the game v. ManUre on the 4th. It was a solid performance with attacking style and flair, though it’d be hard to say there were no downsides. Nelsen’s foul on Owen was just stupidity at its highest and our whole team was on the back foot for the better part of the last last hour. I could go on and on, but luckily I scored the MOTD highlights. All 10 minutes of it. So get a drink and a snack and enjoy after the jump.

Well, this score line certainly blows. After a defeat with a score that was very misleading versus the WHammers, there’s no deny that we were dismantled here. I watched the game, and the first half was pretty good. RobinVanTwatwaffle, the man I hate more then most people on the planet just because he’s overrated and he’s a douche, scored on a shot that looked more like a fifa 07 glitch. Yeah okay whatever, the rest of the first half, good back and forth play with both teams but more importantly, Rovers, having some good chances. Then for some reason, we decide to stop playing around the 44th minute just as we’re applying some steady pressure, and Arsenal put on a school yard clinic of keep away and short passing 101 for remedial beginners. That was a kick in the proverbial groin that Rovers just could not recover from.

The second half was a shit show. Did we have any shots? Did we even touch the ball? I don’t know. More than 24 hours later I’m still livid about it. Rant time:

Warnock: WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU?!?!?! Cause it sure isn’t in the back four, doing what you’re paid to do: PLAY DEFENSE! Don Fabio over there setting up the England better lose your number because he will never call you again. Has the hype about you transferring to the sinking ship got your panties all up in a bunch? Wake up and start fucking playing.

We better not lose to Fulhamerica next week.
