£10 million for Pedersen? Yes please!

By: Dan Clough | February 20th, 2008

morten-gamst.jpgOnce again, Liverpool have been linked with a move for an over-rated Premiership ’star’ who would be overpaid and spend half of his time their on the bench.

This time, that player is Morten Gamst Pedersen.

The Mickey Mousers (scousers) have been linked with a £10 million move for the left winger who has been out of form ever since he changed his name.

MGP is a good player, there’s no doubting that, but for some reason ever since he put ‘Gamst’ on the back of his shirt he has been utter crap!

Back in the day, when Sparky first came in and gave him a proper chance he flourished. Banging goals in from any angle and looking dangerous everytime he went forward.

Now, we want everything to go down the right. Because Bentley is so much better than this new ‘Gamst’ chap we’ve signed!

For some reason, however, you still hear him being linked with these big money moves. As if he made such an impression all that time ago that nobody’s bothered looking at him since, just assumed he’s still our best player! It reminds me a little of players like Ronaldinho, who is totally overrated, but nobody bothers to give him a close inspection!

To be quite honest, if Liverpool do sign Ped for £10m I’ll be extremely surprised as I do believe this is just speculation. However, if they were to offer that, I’d expect Hughes to tear their hand off! He just hasn’t performed for over a year now!

I’ve been disappointed in his performance as well. Why, despite his performance, is he usually in the starting lineup? Are we that thin on talent? Does Hughes keep hoping the lad will live up to his past? Is MGP playing downscale because he wants to be sold? What gives already?

Yes I think we are that thin on talent to be honest. On the left side anyway. Sergio Peter is still to prove himself as a top level player and he’s about the only back up we have on the left wing. David Dunn’s played there a couple of times but he isn’t good enough to be our first choice. If he goes to Liverpool maybe we could swap him for Kewell? Hehe!

    Huhuhu..
    Swapping for Kewell???
    Don’t think that’s a good business..
    Hughes must get defend…
It is more important than attacking midfielder..

He’s a good player, and showed last season (when he did have Gamst on his shirt btw) that he can be top quality - he was 3rd for assists in the Premiership last season I think, tied with Bentley. Sparky needs to inject some life into him I think, because Santa is most effective with the crosses flying in. We should keep him (unless someone does bid 10million) and get the best out of him more consistently - if anyone can do it it’s Sparky.
