Gray goes to Wolves
By: Dan Clough | July 25th, 2007
Following his release Mickey Gray has signed for Midlands club Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Wolves manager Mick McCarthy worked with Gray at Sunderland and was quick to snap him up.
Gray was released from Rovers after losing his place in the starting line-up to new signing Stephen Warnock.
Gray signed on a free for Rovers in January 2004 after a short loan spell at Celtic from Sunderland. He made his debut at Ewood in a close 3-2 defeat to the soon to be champions Chelsea. He fell out of favour and was loaned out to Leeds a year later. However, upon returning to Ewood his performances improved and, becoming an established first-teamer, helped us get into Europe.
Unfortunately he failed to perform to the level he had previously and fell out of favour again last season, this time forcing Hughesy to bring in fresh talent and ending Gray’s career at Rovers.
He has now signed a 12-month contract at Wolves.
Perhaps my favourite memory of Michael Gray is when he asked Wayne Rooney’s missus for a threesome, he ended up with one hell of a shiner!
