A Sad, Sad Day; Brad Departs

The club has officially announced Brad Friedel’s departure from Blackburn Rovers today. He has reached terms with Aston Villa and is set to make his first appearance in their Intertoto Cup second leg tie. More details, like fee and wages, when they’re officially released although its a reported £2-£2.5m deal that will see Brad on anywhere from £50,000 to £70,000 a week for three years at Villa Park. On behalf of every Rovers fan, Thank You Brad, for your years of dedication and service to this club.
Brad Friedel made 287 League and 356 total appearances for Rovers over his 8 year career with us. Acquired on a free from Liverpool, Brad had to turn a lot of skeptics into believers. He has single handly saved us and won us so many games and points and we really have a lot to thank him for. He’s off now to his last big pay day and I can’t really hold any hard feelings against him. So goes a legend…
