Another One Bites The Dust – Bents Gone
By: Jimmy | July 30th, 2008-
Update: It’s official, Bents is on his way to the Spuds. No fee was listed on the Rovers official site, but the sale is final.
Reports today are saying that Bents is finally out the door with the right winger expected to undergo a medical with Tottenham. This must mean a fee has been agreed on and most rumors speculate it’s about £17m. However, Le Arse does get some of that due to a sell on clause (which hopefully we’ve added on ourselves) although the exact percentage has not been released. We’ll keep you updated.
In other, more upbeat news, Carlos Villanueva has reportedly passed his medical and received his working papers. Paul Ince has said in an interview with Rovers World that he hopes to be training with him as early as tomorrow. More on that as information is revealed.

spending this money wisely will most definitely make or break this season.

Right yet again BMatthews. I also think that perhaps not spending it all and saving some for the winter would be best, giving time for Ince to evaluate the squad and maybe using some of it to sign Carlos on a permanent deal.

Definitely right on that. I don’t know how this squad will perform yet and waiting till the winter window opens will be key.

Who are you guys wanting to buy? I haven’t seen too many names linked in the press.

Well Jake, our links are usually quiet for 2 main reasons:
1. Our scouts are pretty sneaky
2. The press really doesn’t follow the rumors of BRFC.No one linked in particular yet too strongly though, not at least till Carlos is with us and his loan underway, but I do think the next move will be to either replace Bents if Emo doesn’t cut it and/or bolster our Def. Backs.

I suppose all the quiet is really good then. It will be interesting to see what Ince’s approach is.
