Blackburn 2-2 Man City, Another 2 Points Dropped

By: Jimmy | December 30th, 2008

A heads up and alert shot by Benni Mac and a sweet header from Jason Roberts wasn’t enough to down Manchester City this past Sunday. A late collapse and total lapse of confidence saw a poor clearance capitalized on and marking taking a back seat while Robinho waltzed home. Samba summed it up well when he said,

“We should have sealed the game, at 2-0 it was finished. But we showed a lack of experience, we should have kept the ball and finished the game off.”

Rovers stay in the drop zone but remain unbeaten under Big Sam. The gaffer was quite dissapointed after the match being quoted as saying,

“I feel like I’ve had all my Christmas presents taken from the bottom of the tree on Christmas morning”

(I swear I didn’t make that up.) He also added,

“Generally in the course of the three games we have now thrown away at least two points, probably four, and I thought that those three points were going to come here today and put us on a level playing field almost with some of the people slightly above us.

So, some good things to take away, like the blooming partnership on Benni and Jason. RAM perhaps? But, Rovers back line collapses again and that’s never a good thing. Also, Nelson out v Blythe for picking up his 5th yellow. Highlights after the jump.

Derbyshire should have run it into the corner flag! Instead of doing that he tried playing Emo through, cue Hart punting it upfield, a bit of magic from Sturridge and an absence of defenders around the man who cost City over £30-million!

It’s coming though, play like that often enough and we won’t go down!

Yeah that strike by Sturridge was class, he made the best of a chance Rovers gave him.

“It’s coming though, play like that often enough and we won’t go down!” You’re right about that!

I have watched the past two games and the lads look more confident then they have looked all year. That being said we need some help in the midfield and in the back. Sell Santa Cruz and spend some money in January. The next few games are against teams we can beat. We need to make the most of the opportunity.
