Matty in talks with Olympiakos
By: Jimmy | June 18th, 2009
According tot he Offish site, Rovers have verbally reached an agreement with Olympiakos, and have given Derbs permission to work out personal terms.
I like the lad, he’s a super sub. But there’s always been something missing to make him a premier league starter. His leaving though will require us to really bring in some guys to add to our strike force, with Santa Cruz looking more and more gone each day.
So what do you think? Is he too valuable to get rid of? Any ideas for replacements? Let me know.

I personally don’t like it, because I can see him turning into a Dirk Kuyt-like player (lots of effort, lots of seemingly “lucky” goals, even more missed “easy” sitters – useful, but not a guy you base your attack on). But I’m relatively new to the game, so what do I know? That said, if the deal includes a buy-back clause, I’d have no problem. Let him play all the time, figure out how to score at a lower level, and keep at least an option on him for the future…
Leaving permanently would leave us with a big hole at forward, presuming RSC is eventually going to be gone (which I take as a given)…Posted from

you got that right jjf3, a perm with no clause or sell on or anything would leave us very weak at the front.
