Oh no an injury crisis!!
By: Dan Clough | October 17th, 2007Matt Derbyshire limped out of the England under-21’s game with Ireland last night to make him the third Rovers casualty up front.
Although it isn’t definite whether he’ll miss Saturday or not, it’s still a blow.
Santa is already out and Roberts has been injured for as long as I care to remember.
This may have a silver lining however as it could present Maceo Rigters with an opportunity to finally get a game. You would think, in light of his recent revelations that he wants to go out on loan if he isn’t in the team, that if he was given an opportunity he would grab it eagerly and hopefully show Sparky what he’s missing.
Benni McCarthy will be our only experienced striker if Derbs does miss, so lets hope he can get back to playing the way he did last year!
In other news:
- The match that Derbs was injured in also featured Eddie Nolan playing for the Republic.
He played a full 90 minutes and looked solid, despite a 3-0 win for England.
- Dunny hopes that losing in the UEFA Cup will help Rovers progress in domestic competitions.
