Rovers capture Steven N’Zonzi
By: Jimmy | June 30th, 2009
The ball will not stop rolling as Rovers sign yet another player for the up coming term. Young starlet N’Zonzi is only just 20 years old, but stands a dominating 6′3″ and plays defensive midfield. Officially he has signed for four years at an undisclosed fee to his french lower league side Amiens SC, but reports in the media leading up to the finalization of the move had reported the fee to be in the £400,000 range. He’s also represented France at a U 21 level.
Depth in the squad and a fresh, young set of legs. Massive legs at that, 6′3″ is no joke. It’ll be interesting to see the center of the midfield now that Big Sam has brought in an out and out defensive midfielder, essentially a replacement for Mokoena in my mind. While he might not jump right into the starting lineup, a year or so at the reserve level and coming in a sub to gain experience, and we have a better taller faster Moko, to bring in to batten down the hatches and hold onto leads and win games.
So many signings and new faces. Exciting to see the new look of the team as, in my opinion, there hasn’t been a bad singing yet. UP THE ROVERS!

This is my pessimistic view: (note, I may post an optimistic one tomorrow):
BFS is a very good scout of defensive talent (especially TALL defensive talent). But I have to wonder about a 20-yo who spent last season getting relegated in Ligue 2. No question the talent is there, but I cynically wonder if he’s a sell-on target…a way for BFS to bankroll his future plans, rather than a true replacement for Mokoena…
That said, if that’s not BFS’s goal, he could be a diamond in the rough who’s just needed better teammates to shine…
yep, that sounds like “wishful thinking”…

I do agree that I have no issues with BFS’ signings/interests so far. I especially like the SA mid-fielder, getting Givet, and the audacity of going after someone like Ruud, whether it happens or not…

Hi,
Just came across this site while browsing,in particular, I got an article about Shearer saying he delibrately missed chances against Newcastle while he was playing for us.
He won us the premiership, it is the only medal in his tiny sh!!ty cabinet and does he remember us for it?
Does he b0ll0cks!If you ever were to ask him about Blackburn days he would probably deny playing for us, he couldnt give a monkeys.
I loved watching him suffer last season.
Anyway, back to the point, big signing coming this week hopefully, full faith in BFS.
RVN deal will and should never happen.
N’Zonzi will play a (small) part THIS season my friend.
Adios

SuperCat, shrewd insight, some rumors are leading to the fact that Karl will follow Incy (his good buddy) back to MK Dons. Check the post coming up for comments on Ruud. And I agree, Nzonzi won’t play a huge role, but he’s good for the future.

jjf3, that bankroll target might not be too off the mark, though I can’t say I would mind. He plays a year or two with us, shows some class, and we sell him for a few million pounds. Unless I wind up magically attached to the guy, can;t say I’d be opposed to that.
